Well, I figured it was time to do an illustration for my absolute, all-time, favorite book: 'Winter's Tale' by Mark Helprin. If you're into magical realism, you should check it out - it's truly a beautiful and wonderful read. Not to go into too much detail, but this is the scene when Athansor, Peter Lake's flying white horse, rises from the sea with a young Christiana on his back. I was (again) trying for Arthur Rackham's style - I'm mostly happy. I can't really accomplish the layers and layers of tinting that make his works so great, but I try
Truly amazing... the drawing, and the painting, and the colour scheme...

Awesome blending of colors!!! Very well drawn! A definite fav... I'll take a look at that book...if I find one in the library, then I'll read it for sure!
I rarely comment on anything at all, but this is one of the prettiest pictures I have ever seen! Both the style and subject are perfect and fits my taste completely.
I think this is beautiful: the colours are absolutely gorgeous, particularlyof the background; they really give the piece a feeling of history as well as fantasy. The horse is magnificent: you have tha anatomy spot on- it looks beautiful and majestic, and yet is obviously having to work hard to get through that surf. The composition is magnificent: everywhere you look there is something else to admire. I really can't say much more. A definite fave!
ooo i love the waves! They're a good mix are cartoony and realistic :-D... it reminds me of this movie i watched thousands of times when i was five where unicorns came out of the sea... anyway... i love this and should really read the book...
the sea.... omg ! the line and the colors of your sea... it's so gracefull. An invitation to dream ! Yes ! I swear !!! *can't take her eyes out the drawing*
