Well, I figured it was time to do an illustration for my absolute, all-time, favorite book: 'Winter's Tale' by Mark Helprin. If you're into magical realism, you should check it out - it's truly a beautiful and wonderful read. Not to go into too much detail, but this is the scene when Athansor, Peter Lake's flying white horse, rises from the sea with a young Christiana on his back. I was (again) trying for Arthur Rackham's style - I'm mostly happy. I can't really accomplish the layers and layers of tinting that make his works so great, but I try
You should illustrate children's books! The imagery you create is so beautiful - the kids' minds would be all stimulated and imaginative because of YOU! Well, don't listen to me . . . your art is FRICKIN' AMAZING and I hope you get famous for it or something . . .
You know, the first thing that came to mind when I saw this was Arthur Rackham. I love his work(especially his trees). You did an excellent job imitating his work and using the same browns he did.
I probably saw this a over a year or so ago, and because I'm just a dummy, I didn't leave you comment, but this picture forced me to go read Winter's Tale and I'm so glad I could trust the artistic beauty of a stranger because that book was wonderful. In fact, I just got done reading his newest book Freddy and Fredericka, which beyond all my doubts, had some of the most hilarious scenes ever. Anyways, you've got so much eye for beautiful things.
The horse appears as he would be so gentle and there is so much wisdom in his face. I love the pattern you chose for the foam streaming across the water. Also your style is just too enchanting. I love this piece; great gallery, great work
This is so pretty, but they both look so sad - it has a quiet melancholy to it at the same time... Beautiful washed out colours and a lovely portrayel of waves.

As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
