Cat-Skin by bluefooted Cat-Skin by bluefooted
An illustration for the Brother's Grimm fairytale, Cat-Skin - read it, if you dare!

I had to keep this under wraps for a bit because it was for a contest with anonymous entries. But that's all done now, so here it is :)

edit: Thanks so much for all the comments! I really appreciate it!

It's a disturbing little story, isn't it? I had the same problem when I first read it: I thought she'd married her pervert dad! Then I realized she'd married some other king and everything was okay :)

Also, I'm in no way condoning or supporting the fur industry - it's just part of the story.

I made a little step-by-step. Not really a tutorial, because there's not much to learn from it. But you can see it here: [link]

Cat-Skin by ~bluefooted is an outstanding illustration. Beautiful use of textures and colors really make for an interesting blend of materials, the artwork almost has a traditional feel to it! A very unique style by a very talented artist! ( Featured by cosmosue )

This is such a lovely depiction of a fairytale. I've always loved that story. Except, wouldn't this be the version called All-Fur, since her coat is made of all kinds of animals?

The dress! Not every artist can conjure the props of a written fairy tale into illustrations. So lovely. The cloak is also a successful evocation of an impossible thing.

I hope that no cats were harmed in the making of this artwork
