Artist's Comments

Thanks for all the comments :) I guess I should say, thanks for all the new comments ;) Wow, didn't expect a DD for this, but it's nice to get.

I get asked a lot about how I color pieces. Here's a hint: it looks like paper because it is paper ;) Basically, I color a section of the drawing very roughly, take a scan of a cool piece of paper - graciously provided by RobG from Eatpoo - set it in a new layer, and erase the parts that fall outside the lines. If you set the texture to 'overlay', you can get the colors underneath the show through. So, in this pic, there are 3 different papers used: one for the birds, one for the bush, and a large piece that covers the whole thing. It's really a digital collage more than anything else. Everyone should try it because it's fun and easy. If you have a scanner, you can just scan your own cool handmade papers or anything else really. I feel dumb explaining this stuff because it's so easy it feels a little like cheating ;) Thanks again for all the comments!

Cheers!

Pretty. I love the idea of this picture, and the look on the man's face is very interesting.

I think the coloring process would be nothing without your signature linework...... ;)

I always thought your artwork was real media! :o I try to do a similar thing with my art too, its so nice to see people trying different styles with digital and not just the clean lines and bright colours ^_^

I watch you with rapt attention, always waiting to see what you do next. You're amazing! I love your palette choice, and the way you draw your people the most. They seem so lifelike, with depth and emotion. Also, thanks for the how-to-scan-paper-and-set-as-a-texture explanation.

A. MAZE. ING. *death* The details and textures are simply gorgeous, as are the colors you chose. The composition flows really nicely as well. Definitely a :+favlove: <33

99% of people don't actually give two craps about these things. If you're one of them, ignore this and move on.
