This didn't turn out like I'd hoped it would. Trying to emulate Kay Nielsen's style. I'll do better next time.

Your style is so wonderful, you don't really need to emulate someone elses(im sure you were just experimenting anyway)! Same sort of thing happens to me, if I try emulating someone elses style it never turns out right.

OMG, Kay Nielsen rocks! One of these days I want to get hold of a copy of "East of the Sun and West of the Moon", which he did the most absolutely amazing illustrations for... Tch, he needs to be better known!

Amazing detailing and coloring! I can see the Kay Nielsen influences but I also see some Art Nouveau influences, e.g in the intricate detailing of the clothes. Clever symbolism too, with the moths (souls) and the net he uses to catch them. He seems to have no eyes, they seem to have been taken out, why is that? Any particular symbolism there? Maybe he sees "with the eyes of his soul" (since he is a soul collector) the souls he catches and has lost his eyes?

How is this 'Anthro'? I see no cat-people/fox-people/wolf-people or furries of any sort; which is what the Anthro category was created for.

I see an androgynous humanoid figure with no eyes, and perfectly ordinary (but highly symbolic) moths. Not Anthro.

As an artist, I'd say the thing about emmulating inspirational styles is not to duplicate them but to use them as a guide to where you want to go, or in some cases where they lead you.

No one will ever be another artist, but any artist we see and love will be a part of us.

I have never seen any of Kay Nielsen until know. Thank you for introducing him to me, I am very inspired. But your work is just as inspiration I feel. It has its own voice and I feel you are on the right track in using inspiration to create yourself.

I love this piece.
